ABOUT ME

Born in Cayenne, French Guiana, and raised by a Haitian immigrant single mother, I am a multifaceted artist—both a director and actor—who immigrated to Orlando Fl, at the age of six - now based in New York City. My work is centered on creating stories that explore brotherhood, trauma, healing, ancestors, the mystical and love. I am drawn to the intricate emotional landscapes of black masculinity—the unspoken tenderness, the silent strength. These narratives delve into personal struggles while examining how black men support and care for one another, navigating vulnerability and emotional resilience.
I am equally captivated by the complexities of family dynamics. The relationships between fathers and daughters, mothers and sons, and siblings offer rich nuance when exploring how individuals strive to do what’s right for each other in emotionally charged and morally complex situations. While these themes are universal—touching on love, conflict, and sacrifice, I find myself curious by how they manifest in black people, with all the historical and cultural context that adds further depth.

But I do not tell these stories in ways you’ve seen before. I am committed to telling these stories in unconventional ways, often strange or stylized storytelling methods to make the familiar feel unfamiliar and the strange feel welcoming. I embrace the “weird” and the wondrous, using sonic soundscapes, music, poetry, and movement as portals to new realms of possibility. My art is a space where storytelling transcends the stage, inviting audiences to experience theater as a living, breathing organism—one that moves, challenges, and transforms with every moment.

My passion for new works and reimagined classics is central to my artistic identity. I find joy in the collaboration with playwrights, especially those creating new worlds with non-linear narratives. To me, the director is a bridge—a partner who helps lift the playwright’s vision into the light. I view the director-playwright relationship as sacred; there’s a unique intimacy in bringing a story to life together.

I believe in telling stories that do not fit neatly into boxes but explode out of them—stories that force us to rethink who we are and what we are capable of becoming. My work is guided by questions that challenge the soul: How can the work reshape the narrative culture to fully reflect our complexities and humanity? How can I take unconventional risks that ignite new conversations about black identity, masculinity, and healing?Too often, black stories are simplified to fit palatable molds for mainstream audiences. I am invested in exploring how we can tell these stories with more nuance, particularly through the lens of hip-hop culture. I also question how the story can serve as a space to reimagine and rebuild communities, fostering growth, dialogue, and understanding. Additionally, how can sensory experiences—sound, touch, even smell—make the audience’s journey more emotionally invested and present.
My experience working on bold, innovative projects, such as serving as the SDCF Director Observer for Saheem Ali on Good Bones at The Public Theater and making my Off-Broadway directorial debut with National Black Theatre's Packages O’ The Things We Deliver at Chelsea Factory, has shaped my approach to taking creative risks. Additional credits, including 48hrs in Harlem, Shop Talk at the Vineyard Theater, the 49th Annual Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Short Play Festival, Roots at Dixon Place and LaMaMa Theater Club, and immersive experiences like AfroFuturism and BlackLove in Brooklyn.

The theater I envision is immersive and boundless, where the sensory experience—sound, touch, even scent—My stylistic approach draws from cinematic minimalism and expressionism, incorporating technology and multimedia in ways reminiscent of the work of Jamie Lloyd, Bill T Jones and George C Wolfe. I fuse these elements to blur the line between reality and fiction, creating worlds that swallow you whole. Theater, to me, is an invitation to step beyond the edge of what is known and into the heart of what is possible. My goal is to create a space where new generations of theatergoers, especially those who might not see themselves reflected in traditional theater, can find a home.
